Edith Young works in art and design with a studio and advisory.

THE STUDIO: As an artist, designer and writer with a multidisciplinary approach, an inclination toward the illustrative and a strong sense for the conceptual, I take on projects in the realm of identity design, editorial assignments, visual essays, and personal commissions.

I've worked with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, The Wall Street Journal, Google, and lots of clients and collaborators in between: a brilliant broommaker, a Danish tennis brand, a dog food startup, a fancy pajama company, and many more.

THE ADVISORY: I specialize in art advising, applying my encyclopedic knowledge of art history, visual culture, and today’s emerging and practicing artists to a wide variety of projects. I work with both private collectors and corporate clients at any stage of building a collection.

In 2021, Princeton Architectural Press published my first book, Color Scheme: An Irreverent History of Art and Pop Culture in Color Palettes.

for literary inquiries, i am represented by kate mack at aevitas creative management.

I send visual essays via a newsletter called Powers of Observation. Prints of my art historical palettes are available here.

I studied photography and the art of problem solving at the Rhode Island School of Design. I currently work on the editorial team at Bergdorf Goodman.
